Past Winners
The ongoing success of past winners of the ECA Edmundson Awards proves how valuable winning this accolade can be. The award supports winners in developing their own careers, with many going on to run their own companies here in the UK or taking high profile, international jobs.
However, it's not just the winner who benefits from this award but their employer too. By winning this award, employers are given a unique opportunity to demonstrate to the industry how they succesfully invest in the development of their staff, to ensure they offer the highest calibre of service. This consequently can help attract more apprentices to the business and project opportunities, too!
Don't just take our word for it, read about the success stories of a few of our past winners below...
Adam Allen, Geoffrey Robinson Ltd
2023 Winner: “I feel delighted and privileged to be recognised as ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year, and I am honoured to represent Imtech Engineering Services. I would especially like to thank my tutors and mentors who provided me with the best start to my career I could have wished for.”
Veronica Jennings, Imtech Engineering Services
2022 Winner: “After winning the ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year award, I've made so many different connections and been given ample opportunities and recognition not just for myself but also my employers. I want to encourage those who are still yet to apply to just go for it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain! If you're an employer this is your chance to show off your up-and-coming talent too."
Dillon Jones, Derry Building Services Ltd
2019 Winner: “It’s a real honour to be recognised as the ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year 2019. I’m looking forward to becoming an ambassador for other apprentices and helping to spread the word that apprenticeships do lead to a rewarding, varied, well-paid career, and really are a viable alternative to going to university.”
Jack Teasdale, Opus Building Services
2018 Winner: "It's very humbling and a privilege to be recognised as ECA Edmundson Apprentice of Year, and to be an ambassador for other apprentices. One of my mentors was himself the winner of this award in 1997, so it's an honour to following his footsteps."
Jordan Bancroft, Imtech Engineering Services Central
2017 Winner: "Since receiving the ECA Edmundson Award in September 2017, I’ve been on two projects: a Grade I listed building in Buxton and Tottenham Hotspur’s new football stadium.
At Buxton Crescent Spa and Hotel I was an electrical engineer, and for the past three weeks at Tottenham’s new stadium I have been looking after lift and escalator supplies, as well as helping with armoured cable measuring and managing installations on-site. It’s been go, go, go!
I had an amazing experience on my study tour in France with Legrand – I would recommend it to any apprentice wanting to see how the industry works in a different country. I got a first-hand look at Legrand’s process when launching a new product, from initial design through to testing, production and trialling.
I have also been lucky enough to appear in several construction magazines and speak at industry events thanks to the ECA Edmundson Award. I recently went to a jobs fair with Imtech, and spoke to a number of young budding apprentices to give them an insight into what is out there for them. I’m really looking forward to seeing what this year will bring, and to keep on promoting apprenticeships as a route into the industry."
Harry Bartle, Chris Bowker Ltd
2016 Winner: As ECA Edmundson Apprenticeship Ambassador 2016/17, I have had opportunities to share my passion for the industry, promoting apprenticeships around the UK. Furthermore, it has been an honour to mentor several apprentices within Chris Bowker Ltd and I have taken great pride in sharing my knowledge with industry professionals of the future.
As the 2016 ECA Edmundson Award winner, Schneider Electric invited me in April to visit their research and development centre in Grenoble. This was an unforgettable trip that gave me an insight into some of the software and products that are set to revolutionise the way we manage our energy efficiently.
I now hope to play my part in ensuring that as many young people as possible know the potential benefits an apprenticeship has to offer, including a clear career path and a well paid job at the end.
