In an important update from the NICEIC, from 1 March 2025, businesses certified under certain schemes will be required to provide evidence that they are recording and managing their operatives’ continuing professional development (CPD).
From this date, businesses certified under certain schemes will be required to provide evidence that they are recording and managing their operatives’ continuing professional development (CPD). Since 2020, the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) has mandated documented evidence of CPD for all employed persons, including sub contractors.
This new requirement applies to all businesses certified through NICEIC’s Approved Contractor and Domestic Installer schemes, as well as those assessed by Certsure for ECA Membership under the commercial and industrial risk-based scheme. Businesses unable to provide adequate CPD records during assessments will have 30 days to supply the necessary documentation.
As part of their membership, ECA Members can access to ECA’s free employee competence software, eCOMS. This digital tool helps businesses to meet these updated requirements by allowing users to upload operative records and receive timely reminders when training is due. Find out more about eCOMS and get started here.
