ECA (Electrical Contractors' Association) welcomes the British Electrotechnical and Allied Manufacturers' Association’s (BEAMA) What Should I Do? initiative, which makes a strong case for the inclusion of a broader range of heat electrification technologies across Government's direct and indirect incentive programmes.
What Should I Do? is part of BEAMA’s wider #ACCELERATINGELECTRIFICATION campaign, which ECA supports.
What should I Do? calls on Government to include energy incentives for the 20% of homes not suitable for heat pumps. This would also plug the 6GW storage capacity gap needed to achieve the ‘Clean Power 2030’ Mission.
BEAMA CEO, Yselkla Farmer, believes the message is straightforward in the run up to the launch of the Warm Homes Plan - offer customers viable and sustainable choice, and help them to answer the question “What should I do?”
Incentives for a broader choice of electrical technologies to heat homes, would provide immediate energy savings through greater storage efficiency and energy tariff flexibility.
Electricians and electrical contracting firms are the best placed and most trusted to provide bespoke, independent advice on the right electrical solution in a given situation.
