This week, Luke Fletcher, a Member of the Welsh Senedd (MS), met Chris Chambers from Member firm Bowen Hopkins along with one of his third year apprentices, Bobby Sprake.
The visit followed last month's launch of Recharging Electrical Skills in Wales Charter in the Senedd. Luke Fletcher, who is a Plaid Cymru MS is also Chair of the Cross Party Group on Apprenticeships and supports ECA's Charter. The visit to Gower College gave Fletcher a chance to see first hand the impact of funding cuts and understand the future training needs necessary to achieve a net zero Wales.
Bobby's college tutor and apprentice assessor, Graeme Philips joined the conversation with the MS and gave Fletcher a tour of the college apprentice facilities. The MS also saw the electrical work Bowen Hopkins have carried out on the college estate.
ECA Members in Wales see this visit as a significant step to putting electrical skills front and centre of the apprenticeship debate in Wales.
