ECA & NICEIC - Powerful Together

The ECA requires all of its members to have achieved relevant technical certification before they are accepted into membership. In 2012, the ECA partnered with Electrical Safety First (ESF) to create Certsure, who operate ECA Certification and NICEIC brands.

Certsure is an LLP owned by the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) and the Electrical Safety Council (ESC) who operate the sector charity Electrical Safety First (ESF).

Certsure is the market leader in Electrical Certification which aims to:

Improve industry standards for everyone.

Certsure’s technical certification activities are carried out under these brands:

Both the CEO for the ECA, Steve Bratt, and MD of Certsure, Richard Orton, are clear on guaranteeing that the high UKAS accredited technical standards are applied across all of these certification schemes.

The Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) which is maintained and published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is used as the benchmark for these schemes. Whether you are looking to find a competent contractor, assessed to the full requirements of BS7671, or someone who can self-certify their work carried out within domestic premises to meet Part P of the Building Regulations, you can have confidence in the technical ability of businesses registered with these schemes.
