Robin Earl of Dehn expanded on the benefits of surge protection. Steve Martin, ECA’s outgoing Director of Technical, explained the changes to the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. It was Steve’s last presentation before leaving the ECA, and he enjoyed catching up with those members he knew when he started within the SE region.
Next up to present were Aimiee Payne of Kent Police who gave an in-depth guide to cyber crime, which no doubt will have everyone attending changing their passwords; Paul Williams, ECA’s Health & Safety manager, updating members on eRAMS and H&S issues, and Darren Smith, ECA Digital Buildings Solutions Advisor, who expanded on the opportunities with Smart Homes and automation technologies.
The conference was supported by industry partners including Marshall Tufflex, Luceco, ITW Construction Products, Phase Electrical Distributors, Legrand, Ansell UK, Gewiss, Simpro and ESP.
Following the conference, an evening dinner was organized at the Brooklands Hotel adjacent to the conference venue, in honour of Malcolm Crofts' presidency of ECA. Malcolm, and his wife Pauline, were presented with a number of gifts on behalf of SE region members in respect of the manner in which he had conducted his time as ECA President.
