Established in 1975, the ECA Edmundson Award is the premier training award in the electrotechnical industry. The award aims to recognise outstanding apprentices who not only have good technical skills, but are role models for others in the industry. The award is sponsored by Edmundson Electrical with the administration and promotion from the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA).
Why enter your apprentice?
The award presents a great opportunity to increase the profile of your business within the industry and gain more contracts. Additionally, when your apprentices are recognised as the best in the industry, your business becomes attractive as an employer.
An industry ambassador
The winner will act as an ambassador for the industry, encouraging others to consider an electrical apprenticeship or perhaps a change of career. The ambassador will be involved with ECA campaigns and events throughout the year. They will also receive an array of prizes from Edmundson Electrical including a cheque for £1500, a state of the art toolkit and a unique trip overseas. Last year’s winner Harry Bartle of Chris Bowker Ltd, is due to take part in a study tour sponsored by leading manufacturer Schneider visiting their facility in the French Alps. Harry Bartle said about the award:
“Winning the ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award has been my greatest achievement. To be recognised and awarded for the success I have had during my apprenticeship is the highest accolade any electrical apprentice could hope to achieve. I have surpassed the expectations I had for my apprenticeship and this has given me great confidence in progressing with my career.”
