The ECA market data update
Each quarter the ECA's Market Intelligence Support Group (MISG) issues a two or four page update on the current industry climate to ECA members. This is combined with a quarterly Business Trends Survey Questionnaire, which allows members to provide feedback on their business environment.

Whichever source you look at, 2009 is a difficult year and recovery in 2010 is not certain nor is it likely to be strong. The Market Data Update for May 2009 summarises the first quarter results of the ECA Business Trends Survey and the Hewes Construction Outlook forecast for April 2009. The ECA members' quarterly business survey shows a realistic, but not entirely negative view.
In this update, more advice is given on meeting the increasingly difficult trading conditions which are vividly illustrated by reports on the November 2008 Hewes Regional Forecasts of output for construction new work and the third quarter 2008 member business trends survey results. There is also an initial report on the findings from a general survey of member perceptions.
This update reports on the second quarter 2008 member business trends survey results and Hewes' July 2008 Construction Outlook. There is a specific feature on the BSRIA M & E key performance indicators.
June 2008
This update looks at the first quarter 2008 member business trends survey results and the latest Hewes national and regional construction forecasts and in the light of the credit crunch and inflationary pressures lists question ECA members might ask which help them to meet such market challenges. In addition, there is a summary report of the member survey into sub-sub-contracting.
